Our Team: Michael Cairns

Michael Cairns, Managing Partner of Information Media Partners, has over 20 years experience in the publishing industry. He has been President of an industry leading database company and active in industry associations and standards organizations. Other positions have included a project management position with a major consulting services firm and general management of a direct-mail language publisher and licensing company. Michael has direct operating experience in all areas of publishing operations and has on numerous occasions also trained other colleagues in various aspects of the publishing value chain and publishing industry.

Michael has worked in top executive management positions where he has managed, financial (management) reporting implementations, budgeting processes, corporate strategic development, acquisition identification and integration, product development and launches and internal process redefinition, reengineering and process/function outsourcing. Michael is a skilled consultant able to define business issues quickly and provide creative and workable solutions for clients.

As a teacher and mentor, Michael has created and delivered courses on the publishing industry, held scenario-planning workshops and presented at BookExpo, Frankfurt Bookfair, London Bookfair, Association of American University Presses annual Conference, Direct Marketing Association, National Association of Broadcasters Conference, Future of the Book Conference, Association of Australian Publishers annual conference, Book Industry Study Group Conference and others.
